Dilemma

I miss my blog. I miss blogging. But I don’t want to provide material for the AI engine bots to scrape.

It’s not that I think I am the be-all and end-all. They scrape indiscriminately, regardless of quality. If there are words and images to harvest, they harvest them.

I don’t want to be harvested.

But I want to blog.

Could we please just go back to 2005 now?

Please Excuse the Dust.

I am sitting here, on a new server, with a fresh blog install, and I’m trying to rescue my old posts from the dust heap of oblivion with the help of the Wayback Machine.

My last blog post was in August 2022, and I hadn’t done a blog back-up since about six months before that.  To cause further wrinkles in my forehead, that back-up didn’t save any of the images for the posts, so I’m trying to track them down.  So this site may be a bit chaotic in terms of the blog archives for a little bit.

But I am really, really glad to be back. I have big plans for this space. 🙂

It Just Has to Start

I’m a big fan of the Passion Planner, and they have a saying: “It doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to start.”

Well, I’ve been planning on beginning a new blog for months (years?), but I wanted it to be perfect.  I wanted to custom-make my own WordPress theme, complete with embedded fonts and specific colours, and …

And — of course — I didn’t start.

So tonight I decided to install a WordPress theme that I didn’t hate too much (how’s that for a ringing endorsement?) and just get started.  And now that this blog is underway, it’ll be easier to blog again — to just snap the photos and write the words, without worrying about the 47 steps to set up the blog and make it perfect.  If I want to make that custom theme later, then I can.  But for now, this will do just fine.

Let’s begin.

Incidentally, if you would like 10% off your first purchase of a Passion Planner, please click here. This will also enable me to get my next Passion Planner at a discount, too.  Win-win!  Thanks!
